Spoiler alert – it really, really works. This is simple and completely delicious!
Ingredients
- 1 2/3 cups flour
- 1 ½ t baking soda
- 1 t cinnamon
- ½ t allspice
- 3 T dark brown sugar
- 1 egg, brought to room temperature
- 2 ripe bananas
- ½ cup maple syrup
- 3 t vanilla
- 1 cup + 2 T semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 T sugar
Directions
Butter and flour or spray a loaf pan and set it aside.In a medium bowl, pour the flour, baking soda, cinnamon and allspice and whisk together until well combined. Set this bowl aside.
In a large bowl add the brown sugar, egg, bananas, maple syrup and vanilla and mix until well combined.
Add in your dry mixture and mix again until just combined.
Pour in the cup of chocolate chips and stir until the chips are evenly distributed throughout.
Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle the sugar along the top, then sprinkle the remaining 2 T chocolate chips over that. Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is a nice golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out dry.
Take the pan out of the oven and move it to a wire rack to cool completely. Once it’s cool remove it from the pan, slice and enjoy!
