As always with these kinds of things you can decide what you prefer to add, but this recipe is something I like.
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 2 t baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- ½ cup butter
- ¾ cup dark brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 egg yolk (additional to the egg above)
- 2 t vanilla
- ½ cup white chocolate chips*
- ½ cup toffee bits*
- ½ cup m&m’s*
- Again, these were my choices – feel free to use them or choose others!
Directions
In a large bowl, add the flour, baking powder and salt and whisk until everything is evenly distributed. Set the bowl to the side.
Next, put the butter in a medium saucepan and heat it over medium, stirring regularly. Once the butter melts, which will be quick, make sure to stir it continuously until it stars to turn brown (which will also be quick!). It will also start to smell really nice.
Keep stirring until it’s a nice dark brown then immediately take it off the heat. Add in the brown sugar and whisk vigorously until the sugar is dissolved. Next, add in the egg, egg yolk and vanilla and whisk until everything is well combined.
Pour this mixture into the bowl with the dry ingredients and stir until everything is well combined. Add in your white chocolate chips, toffee bits and m&m’s and stir again until they’re well distributed.

Line an 8”x8” pan with aluminum foil and spray it with cooking spray. Then, take your batter and pour it into the pan. If you’re feeling adventurous, feel free to sprinkle a few more chips/bits/m&m’s on top (but it’s not strictly necessary).
Bake at 350 for about 25-30 minutes, or until the top is a nice golden brown.

Move the entire pan to a wire rack to cool completely. Then lift the whole thing out by the aluminum foil, cut into squares (or, you know, whatever shape you want) and enjoy!
