3 Musketeers Brownies

So, we recently stayed at a hotel that kept giving us candy.  Like, a LOT of candy.  They didn’t have a huge variety of choices, though, so I ended up with a lot of 3 Musketeers Bars.  They’ll taste good in a brownie, right?

Definitely right!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter, brought to room temperature
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 t vanilla, separated
  • ½ cup Kahlua
  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ cup cocoa powder (Sweetened or unsweetened – it won’t make a huge difference. For this recipe in particular, I’m going with unsweetened because of the candy bars in the batter)
  • ½ t salt
  • ¼ t baking soda
  • 3 Three Musketeers Bars, refrigerated
  • ½ cup, butterscotch chips

Directions

Get a large bowl and throw in the butter, sugar, eggs, 2 t of the vanilla and the Kahlua.  Mix until creamy.

Add in the flour, cocoa powder, salt and baking soda and mix again until well combined.  Set this aside for a sec.

Get your 3 Musketeers bars and chop them into pieces, maybe a ¼” square each:

Take half of the chopped 3 Musketeers bars and all of butterscotch chips the fold them into the batter (don’t mix), so that they’re evenly distributed.  Set the other half aside.

Get a 9” square baking pan and either butter and flour it, or line it with aluminum foil (I lined mine because it’s much easier to clean).

Pour the batter into the pan and put it in the oven at 350.

Bake for 25-30 minutes.  However, after 20 minutes, take the pan out of the oven and sprinkle the remaining chopped up 3 Musketeers bars over the top and then return the pan to the oven for the rest of the baking time.

After 25 minutes, insert a toothpick into brownie.  It won’t come out completely dry because of all the candy bars in there, but you should be able to tell if the brownie portion is cooked.  If not, put it back into the oven for another 5 minutes.

Once it’s done, remove the pan from the oven and lightly spread the 3 Musketeers across the top (they’ll be very melty at this point!).

Move the pan to a wire rack to cool completely.  Then, chop up and enjoy!!
