Ugly Advice – Giving Cakes (or Cupcakes) a Crunchy Exterior

If you want to surprise folks and give your cake a crunchy outside edge, then rather than buttering and flouring a pan, butter and sugar the pan.  Since I’m making cupcakes today, I did this on a cupcake



This will give you a cake with a crunchy, candied outside layer, and is totally unexpected!  It’s also, you know, really really tasty.
