Dalgona Coffee

 This one has been bouncing around Instagram and TikTok for a while so I decided to give it a try myself.

I’m not 100% certain it qualifies as a “dessert”, but there’s sugar in it so let’s count it.  It sure is good, and very easy to make.

According to various sources on the interwebs, it’s called “Dalgona” due to its visual similarity to a Korean candy called dalgona…which I had never seen.


  • 2 T instant coffee or instant espresso granules
  • 1 T sugar *
  • 1 T brown sugar *
  • 2 T boiling water
  • Milk
  • Cocoa powder for garnish (definitely optional but kinda looks nice)

*  I happen to like the taste of brown sugar a lot.  Most recipes you’ll find call for just sugar and you can absolutely do that (just use 2 T total).  But I like the additional little bit of flavor using some brown sugar adds..


Easiest recipe ever.

Put the instant coffee (or instant espresso) and the sugars in a medium bowl.  Add the boiling water and beat until fluffy, which will take a good 5 minutes or so.IMG_3672IMG_3673

Take a glass and fill it about 2/3 of the way with milk, then top with the whipped mixture.  Sprinkle with a little cocoa powder if you’re so inclined and serve!

This one is really easy to increase the amount you make, so it you’re making it for, say, 4 people for after dinner just quadruple all the amounts above!IMG_3680aIMG_3675a
