I love brownies, that should be clear by now. And I make simple brownies pretty regularly. But every once in a while I want something a little richer than my average brownie (which are already pretty rich!), and I turn to these. Including condensed milk in the batter just ups the richness factor and makes these a can’t miss.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter, softened to room temperature
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 14 oz. can, sweetened condensed milk
- 3 t vanilla
- 2 eggs, brought to room temperature
- ½ cup flour
- ½ cup sweetened dark cocoa powder
- Pinch salt
- ¾ cup semisweet chocolate chips, separated
- ½ cup butterscotch chips
- ¼ cup Heath toffee pieces
- Additional sea salt or flaked salt for sprinkling
Directions
Put your butter, sugar and condensed milk in a large bowl and mix until well blended and smooth. Then add in the eggs and vanilla and mix again until everything is well combined.Next, add the flour, mixing continually until everything is well combined. Follow that with the cocoa powder and salt.
Stir in ½ cup of your chocolate chips and all the butterscotch chips and toffee pieces in until they are evenly distributed through the dough.
Get an 8” or 9” square pan and line it with parchment paper. Pour your batter into the pan, sprinkle the last quarter cup of semisweet chips on top along with a little bit of salt.
Bake at 350 for about 40 minutes, or until the edges and start to get a little crispy.
Move the pan to a wire rack to cool completely, then cut into slices and enjoy!
