Anyway, it comes with an air fryer function, which I think is kind of wild. And it comes with a wire rack…that you put in the microwave. It’s weird.
BUT, for years I’ve seen recipes for air fryer desserts, and I figure now is my chance to give them a shot. I decided to start with my favorite – chocolate chip cookies.
Ingredients
- ¾ cup butter, brought to room temperature
- ¾ cup dark brown sugar
- ¼ cup sugar
- 2 eggs, brought to room temperature
- 3 t vanilla
- 1 t baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- ¾ cup butterscotch chips
- ¼ cup toffee bits
Directions
In a large bowl, mix together the butter, brown sugar and sugar until smooth.Add in the eggs, vanilla, baking soda and salt and mix again until well combined.
Finally, slowly add in the flour until just combined.
That’s it for the “mixing” – now on to the stirring.
Toss in the chocolate chips, butterscotch chips and toffee bits and stir until they’re well distributed. That’s it – that’s your dough.
Move the bowl to the fridge for about a half hour to chill and clean up the counter (somehow, even with limited ingredients, I always manage to make a mess).
When you’re ready to bake, lay some parchment paper over the rack(s) in your air fryer. Place ping pong sized balls of dough on the paper, making sure to leave room between them because they will spread. Probably an inch and a half will do, but it’s probably best to experiment.
Air fry at 275 for 13-16 minutes, or until the cookies are a nice golden brown. One important thing to note when making these in a microwave/air fryer combo – the cookies on the top rack cooked quite a bit faster than those on the bottom. I took them out first and let the bottom cookies cook for an additional 4 or so minutes. Note that the 13-16 minutes referenced above takes care of the top cookies…add time for the bottom ones.
Certainly, your oven/air fryer will differ so you’ll need to experiment to nail down the right amount of time.
Take the cookies out of the air fryer and let them rest on the parchment paper for 2-3 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Makes about 4 dozen air fryer chocolate chip cookies! Fewer if you eat the dough as you go.
