3 Musketeers Hot Cocoa Brownie Bites

I had a bunch of 3 Musketeer bars, and it’s about time to use them.  Rather than just eat them, I decided to cut ‘em up and bake little brownie cups out of them.  I highly recommend these!

Ingredients

Brownie Bites

  • 3 regular-sized 3 Musketeer Bars
  • ¾ cup flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • ¼ t baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ cup butter, brought to room temperature
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 t vanilla
  • 2 eggs, brought to room temperature
  • 1/3 cup mini marshmallows (or regular marshmallows cut into smaller pieces)

Hot Cocoa Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2.5 T cocoa powder
  • 3 T boiling water (approximate – see below)

Directions

Get a your mini-muffin pans and line each one with a mini cupcake liner – you’ll need 36 individual cups.  Set aside.

Start by cutting up your 3 Musketeers bars into smaller pieces.  Separate 36 pieces out so you have two piles of cut-up candy and set both piles aside as well.

In a small bowl, add the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt and whisk together until well combined.  Now set this aside, too.

Next, get a large bowl and throw in the butter, both sugars and the vanilla and mix until smooth.  Then, add the eggs one at a time, mixing after each one until just combined.

Get your bowl of dry ingredients and add that to this bowl, mixing until just combined.

Finally, to complete your batter, grab your two piles of cut up 3 Musketeers.  Put the 36 pieces to the side and add the rest to the batter.  Stir (don’t mix) the candy pieces into the batter, until they’re well distributed.

Get your muffin tin and fill each one about ¾ full.

Bake at 350 for 11 minutes, and take the tin out of the oven.  Note – the brownie bites will not be quite done yet.

Get the 36 remaining 3 Musketeer bits and your mini marshmallows.  Working quickly, press one piece of 3 Musketeers and 2-3 mini marshmallows into each cup and immediately put the tin(s) back into the oven.

Make for about another 2 minutes, then take the tin out of the oven.  Watch these carefully, though – basically you want the marshmallows to puff up and get a light golden brown, not char or catch on fire.  Depending on your oven, this might be a bit more or less than 2 minutes.

Let the bites cool in the tin for about 10 minutes, then remove each bite from the tin and move them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once they’re completely cool it’s time to glaze, which is easy but a little messy.

Take each brownie bite and move them to a sheet of wax or parchment paper (basically it just makes clean-up a lot easier).

In a small bowl, whisk together your powdered sugar and cocoa powder until well combined.  Boil your water and add in 2 tablespoons and whisk again until smooth.  If your mixture is too thick to drizzle, add additional water and keep adding until the glaze is a consistency that’s not watery, but is something you can drizzle.

If you add too much water, just add additional powdered sugar until it’s a consistency you like.

Drizzle the glaze over the brownie bites and let it set before serving.

That’s it!  Pretty simple but absolutely delicious.  As you may have guessed, this makes 36 incredible little 3 Musketeers hot cocoa brownie bites!
