Ugly Advice for Today – Proportional Chipization

Ok, maybe Chipization isn’t a word, but it should be.  Besides, people way more important than me make up words all the time, so I see no reason why I can’t, too.

Anyway, what I’m going for here is a way to change up recipes you see, without worrying about messing them up.

Say, for example, you see a cookie recipe.  You see the picture and it looks good, you start reading down the ingredients list and it looks find until you get to the end and the last ingredient is, for instance, peanut butter chips.  And you HATE peanut butter.  Damn, on to the next recipe, right?

Not necessarily.

Chips are absolutely the easiest thing to substitute, without any worry that you’ll mess up your recipe.  If you’re looking at a recipe and it calls for a kind of chip you don’t like, but everything else looks pretty good, then just substitute the same amount of a chip you DO like.  Or even m & m’s.

As long as you keep the proportions the same, you’ll be fine, and you’ll end up with a cookie that YOU like.

And there are soooo many chip choices.  Here are just the ones I found in my cupboard (yeah, I know I may have a problem)….

And this is in no way all the chips available to you.  Have at it!  Mix and match, do half of one kind and half of another…whatever’s going to put a smile on your face and cookies in your mouth.
